How to set up Dropshare with Clipo

Upload screenshots and files from Dropshare straight to Clipo instead of a third-party storage provider. Dropshare's Custom API connection sends each upload to your account and copies the share link automatically.

What you'll need

  • Dropshare for macOS (with Custom API support)
  • Your Clipo account at https://clipo.do
  • An API key from your account

Step 1: Create an API key

  1. Open Settings → API keys (https://clipo.do/dashboard/settings#api).
  2. Create a key, for example named Dropshare.
  3. Copy it somewhere safe. It's only shown once.

Step 2: Add a Custom API connection

  1. Open Dropshare and go to Preferences → Connections.
  2. Click Add Connection and choose Custom API.

You'll see two sections: Request and Response.

Step 3: Configure the Request

SettingValue
Upload URLhttps://clipo.do/api/v1/files
MethodPOST
Content Typemultipart/form-data
Form Fieldfile

In the Header field, enter this JSON with your own key:

{
  "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
}

Leave Body and Basic Authentication empty. Keep your key private and never share a screenshot that shows it.

Step 4: Configure the Response

SettingValue
Content TypeJSON
URL to file%url%
Delete URL%delete_url% (optional)
Delete MethodDELETE
Delete Bodyleave empty
File TypesAll Files

Dropshare reads values out of the JSON response with placeholders. Clipo returns, among others:

  • url: the share page for the upload
  • raw_url: a direct link to the file
  • thumb_url: a thumbnail (images and videos)
  • delete_url: deletes the upload when called with DELETE and your key

%url% copies the share page. Use %raw_url% if you prefer direct file links.

Step 5: Test the connection

Click Test Connection. Dropshare uploads a small test file; if it succeeds, you're ready. If it fails, check the API key, the upload URL, the method, the form field (file) and the response placeholder.

Step 6: Upload

  1. Capture a screenshot or pick a file.
  2. Dropshare uploads it to Clipo.
  3. Clipo creates the share link.
  4. Dropshare copies it to your clipboard.

Quick reference

Request: POST https://clipo.do/api/v1/files · multipart/form-data · field file · header Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY

Response: JSON · URL to file %url% · File Types All Files

Encryption

Dropshare uploads go through the API, so they can't be end-to-end encrypted (that happens in the browser). Switch on Encrypt new uploads by default in Settings → Preferences and the server encrypts every Dropshare upload with AES-256-GCM before storing it (encryption at rest). See How encryption works.
